Hey there! Welcome to Curls & Cuisine, a website where I share my passion of good cooking, cocktail curating, and just being me with the world. My name is Charisa – friends call me “Risa” – so call me that. I am originally from Vallejo, CA (an itty bitty city by the water in the San Francisco Bay Area). I grew up a military brat so I’ve lived everywhere from Fayetteville, N.C., to Orange County, CA to Vilseck, Germany. I attended school at The Great Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA. I received my Bachelors’ and Masters’ Degree in Accounting (exciting, right?), and I am currently in a Sr. Accountant role within the financial reporting group of a pretty awesome company in Atlanta, GA.
Outside of accounting, you can find me 1. in my kitchen cooking 2. blogging about cooking 3. shopping for something that has to do with cooking 3. researching about cooking 4. talking loud and doing the absolute most or 5. traveling. This is what makes my world go round outside of my loved ones.
I’ve always dabbled in cooking growing up and especially over the past few years. Since my Mom is queen of all things homemade (I wish I would make something “canned” in her house), a lot of what I love came natural. It wasn’t until recently (around early 2014) that I birthed Curls & Cuisine and decided to finally give more energy to this passion project of mine. Cooking is more than nourishment to me, its a slightly …actually a very emotional, almost ritualistic practice. Its common to find me in the kitchen (record player on, candles lit, wine glass PO’ed up – no typo) after a very long day, or when I have a lot on my mind, or when I have an important decision to make, or when I just want to escape and recharge.
So in essence, this blog is my way of sharing what I’m passionate about with the world. It also doesn’t hurt that everything shared is edible (or drinkable) and tastes so good. So take a look around my blog, try the recipes, leave feedback, reach out and connect – I love meeting new people! Thanks for visiting!
